Pelvic Floor Workout Relief for IC Health

September brings Health Activists together to shed light on victims of chronic pain suffering from Interstitial Cystitis

September is IC Awareness Month! If you want to be educated or find a support group for chronic pain, the latest information is available online now. During IC Awareness month, we become Health Activists providing support to one another to combat this disease.

IC is a condition best described as severe pain in the urethra and bladder area, contributing to frequent urgency to urinate and while the bladder might be empty it typically always feels full, with extreme pressure. IC is distracting to ones normal living routine, work and sleep. Simple tasks such as driving, sitting, swimming and standing are effected by this sharp nonstop condition.

Coping with a life-altering invisible chronic disease…

Most people with symptoms of IC have a similar story. Not being able to find a solution, or any idea how to cure IC or even come to terms with a related diagnosis for that matter. Turning to a Gynecologist, Urologist, or Uro-Gynecologist is typically the first steps. If youre lucky, one MD may have a solution.

This really is not a disorder of the bladder, it’s primarily related to other alternatives that trigger this pain. These other alternatives can be stress, poor diet and lack of sleep and exercise. Dehydration is also a big factor. The body becomes sensitive, developing other situations such as kidney issues, kidneys stones, dehydration, ulcers, bleeding, sensitivity to foods … when combined together can develop Interstitial Cystitis.

Pelvic Floor Exercises and sessions with a Physical Therapist who specializes in Pelvic Therapy, is sure to be of great influence to helping patients with IC. It’s almost like your foot falling asleep and you have to move it around to create circulation of blood flow, except in the pelvic area. It may be easier said then done, but it sure is a way to bounce back a feeling or normalcy again, and alleviate chronic pain.

Diet is another factor. Understanding your bodily reactions to the ingredients in meals will assist in finding your inner wellness. Pay attention to dairy and red meats, spicy and citrus ingredients, many times can be a contributor to the raw intense feeling. Eliminate or eat in moderation…

Request to join online support groups, especially on Facebook. A popular page to join, ‘Healing Interstitial Cystitis Naturally’ is a private section dedicated to those seeking guidance from people who are like-minded, or in need of care. Members share stories of what helps them cope, naturally. Also search for Interstitial Cystitis self help from others on YouTube and see how others have found relief.
